Beatification

FOTOBEATIFICAZIONE.jpeg

On the occasion of the beatification of John Paul I that took place on September 4, 2022 in St. Peter's Square, the Foundation provided the relic that was handed over to the Supreme Pontiff during the celebration.
The relic, an autograph writing of a spiritual order on the three theological virtues, belongs to Luciani's Spiritual Writings (APAL, envelope 21, fold. 321, doc. 33rv) and comes from the Albino Luciani Private Archive, exclusive property of the John Paul I Vatican Foundation.

In view of the beatification ceremony, the Foundation also gave to all Italian bishops the volume The Magisterium. Documents and Texts of the Pontificate, edited by its own Scientific Committee.

Excerpts from the same volume were read during the Prayer Vigil held on Sept. 3, 2022 at the Cathedral of St. John Lateran, at the end of which copies of Places of Infinity, the special issue of Avvenire magazine containing contributions by members of the Committee, were distributed free of charge. Copies of the same special insert were also distributed on the morning of Sept. 4 in St. Peter's Square.

Master Yan Zhang, on the other hand, donated to the Foundation an oil portrait of John Paul I, created especially to celebrate his beatification and reproduced on the banner shown during the ceremony.
